OET Invites Organizational Signatures for Tech Data Commitment

Concerned about the timely transmission of individualized education program (IEP) records and Section 504 plans for Department of Defense Families and others with high mobility issues, the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Education Technology (OET) invites signatures for a recently developed data pledge.

Framed as the Interoperability, Efficiency, and Portability Commitment, the pledge outlines a comprehensive plan to enhance the management and security of data related to IEP and Section 504 plans. It requests the development of a data infrastructure or architecture by January 2025, improving data access and strengthening student data privacy and security.

The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) is among the organizations that have already signed the commitment.
